The Gahagans

About

Kyle Gahagan grew up in Atlanta, GA and  began his passion for knifemaking at the age of 10, when he would visit his grandparents in Walterboro, SC.  He would tinker with objects, shaping them into various tools and even studying under a well known knife maker.  Not knowing the impact this seed would take, Kyle  joined the ARMY at the age of 20, serving with the 1st Ranger Battalion stationed at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah GA. He did two tours in Afghanistan as well as two tours in Iraq.  Once he completed his time in the service, Kyle and his wife, Dana, moved to her hometown in North Carolina where they started their family.  It was in the early 2000's when Kyle began to renew his passion for knifemaking.  What started as a hobby in the garage soon turned into a skilled passion that has  been able to sustain his family.

Knife making  has been something Kyle has enjoyed for many years, spending bast amounts of time and research, honing his craft.  He has worked with world famous bladesmiths to ensure that he creates a quality knife meeting rigorous standards while perfecting his own unique style.   From creating unique pieces that challenge his knife making skills to making rugged work pieces that can last the times, every knife he creates is made with the end user in mind.

Kyle is an avid outdoorsman and knows what is needed in a knife.  Building on the foundations of faith and family, Kyle tries to create knives that fit the individual needs of the customers and that can stand the abuse they may need to take. He loves how a knife can become an extension of its user and how a piece of finely crafted steel feels in his hand. He knows a good knife can truly make the difference when you truly need it.  With an education background, Kyle also enjoys sharing his love of the craft, teaching others who want to learn and helping fellow Veterans "hammer it out".

Kyle received his ABS Journeyman Smith rating at the 2015 Blade show In Atlanta GA and has appeared on "Forged in Fire" in 2016.  His works have been featured in Blade Magazine, Knife Magazine as well as several other publications.  Kyle continues to strive for excellence and is currently working on obtaining his ABS Mastersmith certification.
